A layout about Mum

I'm in the process of putting together an album about my family, especially my parents, so that Holly can learn all about their lives when she's a bit older. I'm really enjoying scrapping photos of my parents when they were young. Mum was 18 when this one was taken. It's inspired by a sketch by Anam Stubbington for Prima. The journaling in the envelope tells the story of mum's nursing career. She knew from when she was about 8 years old that she wanted to work in the medical profession. She would have loved to have been a chemist as she excelled in science at school. My grandfather however was a sugar cane farmer on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and didn't have the kind of money needed in those days to send mum to university. She worked as a doctor's receptionist for a year when she finished school. Then as soon as she turned 17 she moved away to Toowoomba to become a nurse. She met Dad and married him at the age of 19, and left nursing when they decided to start a family. Holly really loves playing with her medical set, so perhaps she's going to take after Mum? It's a bit early to tell of course. She sure has the sewing gene though! There's a layout about that family tradition coming soon...

WOW!!! What a stunning layout - and I adore that photo of your mum!! Holly is so lucky to have all these lovely pages to reflect back on when she is older!
